Ghuman still waits for visa

Sat Nov 17, 2007 at 10:08:10 PM PDT

An excellent story here on dKOS prompted me to write my US Representative (yep, that’s Don Young himself, AK, our only one).  Though the letters back to me are not the routine brush off (which I get fairly often),  the situation is essentially still one of the US government taking unjustified and unexplained action against a civilian.

To recap, story from September 17, 2007), titled
Homeland Security goes Gestapo..detains music scholar and written by Demfem, explains that Dr. Nalini Ghuman is an expert on Edward Elgar (British composer who wrote "Pomp and Circumstance"). She plays the piano and the violin and teaches at Mills College in Oakland, CA.

The expulsion has affected her professional and scholarly work for nearly a year now....

Travelling Revival Show: Progressives Rally in Juneau

Mon Jul 30, 2007 at 10:56:53 PM PDT

Today's exhortation:
Call your members of Congress.
What is missing in Washington DC are the intense and passionate voices of the people.
We ( 70 percent of Americans) opponents of the current war policy outnumber the 535 in Congress.  We can make them hear us.
Stop the war.  Impeach the President and the Vice President.  Take our country back.

Thanks for reading my first diary.  I hope you are encouraged by what I report - I'm jazzed by the enthusiasm generated by the crowd.

I'm home from a rally in a blue oasis of the red Sahara known as Alaska.
It was good to see people I knew.
The occasion for this gathering of people opposed to the war of aggression and concerned for the state of our country was a visit.  Now, in a tourist boom town, with thousands of cruise ship passengers on shore today, who were these people?
